After earning Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in English Literature from Georgetown University, Judd graduated with honors in 2001 from the University of Michigan Law School, where he received the Book Award for highest achievement in Litigation Ethics. Judd started his litigation career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP. He then clerked for federal Judge Joseph R. Goodwin in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Upon returning to practice, Judd litigated high-profile cases with Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP (the world’s largest law firm in the world devoted solely to business litigation) for nearly a decade. MSE was pleased to recruit Judd in 2016.

Judd has litigated in federal courts, various state courts around the country, and in arbitrations, including FINRA proceedings. He has a particular expertise in commercial and employment disputes in the financial industry. His past representations include:

  • Defending a group of financial advisors (with billions under management) against claims brought by the group’s former employer in a FINRA arbitration proceeding.
  • Defending a sovereign wealth fund in an international arbitration concerning its multi-billion dollar investment in a major American financial institution.
  • Prosecuting breach of contract claims by a major Mexican telecommunications company in the Southern District of New York, including successfully moving to enjoin the sale of the client’s debt instrument to a third-party.
  • Simultaneously prosecuting and defending claims on behalf of a regional bank in multi-forum litigation arising out of fraudulent life insurance premium financing program.
  • Pursuing claims in Michigan state court in a lawsuit against a major financial institution for misappropriation of charitable trust fund assets.
  • Defending a major software manufacturer in New York state court against claims brought by a Wall Street brokerage.
  • Defending a major technology company in Florida state court against multi-billion dollar claims for theft of trade secrets.
  • Prosecuting claims in California state court against multiple securities dealers to rescind purchases of securities backed by residential mortgage loans.
  • Pursuing claims against the federal government in the United States Court of Federal Claims for losses caused by the wrongful seizure of a Savings and Loan Association.
